Super Bowl Cocktail Recipes

With just a few days until Super Bowl 50, we're kind of in a tizzy about what snacks we're making for the game and what we're wearing along with channeling good thoughts to both the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers so we have a good game. That's all we ask for on Sunday- a good game.

One thing we have locked down though, thanks to home mix master Tiffani Janes, is the cocktail plan. There's simply no ingredient that she shies away from and no technique that scares her away. She actually made cocktails for every single Game of Thrones episode last season that were character appropriate- think "Lady Sansa", The Imp, White Walkers, etc. And they were sooooo good (and not always easy). Since she knows her way around a bar, we asked her to recommend 2 Super Bowl Cocktail Recipes and she came through like a champ. Can't wait to try these!

Carolina Panthers Super Bowl Cocktail Recipe:

Carolina Sweet Tea Sweet Tea Vodka: 1/2 Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka 1/2 Lemonade Twist of Lemon Few sprigs of mint (optional)

Tiffani says: The above is an awesome recipe all on its own but because I am rooting for the Panthers I am making it with a twist.

Carolina Sweet Tea Fizz 2 oz Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka (amount can vary depending on how strong or weak you want your drink) 2 tbsp Lemon-Mint simple syrup (to taste with amount also) Club Soda

Fill a Collins glass with ice. Add Sweet Tea vodka and lemon-mint simple syrup. Top with club soda. Garnish with a sprig of mint.

Lemon-Mint Simple Syrup: 6 lemons 2 cups sugar 2 teaspoons kosher salt 6 to 8 fresh mint sprigs

Using a vegetable peeler, remove thin layer of peel from lemons, leaving white pith intact. Reserve peeled lemons for another use.

Bring sugar, salt, and 4 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, whisking occasionally. Remove syrup from heat, and stir in lemon peels and mint. Cover and let stand 30 minutes. Pour mixture through a wire-mesh strainer into a container; discard solids. Refrigerate up to 2 weeks.

Denver Broncos Super Bowl Cocktail Recipe (recipe courtesy of Mom off Track):

Mile High City 1 part blue Curacao 2 parts Orange Patron Liquor (or you can use Vodka if you don’t want it as sweet) 2 parts San Pellegrino Blood Orange Soda

Start with all well chilled ingredients. Pour the soda into a glass and let it settle a bit. Add the Orange Patron or Vodka. Using the back of a large spoon pour in the blue Curacao to the middle of the glass. Do this slowly and carefully or you will end up with a green drink. If that happens, let it settle and you may be able to save it.

We asked Tiffani about making cocktails for a crowd and here's her recommendation (recipe and photo courtesy of Cooking Light):

When I am having people over, one of my favorite go to recipes is the Season Creep. I came across the recipe in Cooking Light and while it is a bit fussy, it's so worth it! The flavors are unique and complex- a real crowd pleaser!

Season Creep:

3/4 cup turbinado sugar

4 ounces water

5 ounces unsweetened pineapple juice

10 fresh sage leaves, torn

18 ounces light rum, such as Denizen

6 ounces fresh lime juice

3 ounces yellow Chartreuse

12 lime slices

Bring sugar and 4 ounces water to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring to dissolve sugar. Add pineapple juice; reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes. Reduce heat to low; add sage, and steep 5 minutes. Remove from heat; strain and discard solids. Cool to room temperature.

Combine pineapple syrup, rum, lime juice, and Chartreuse in a pitcher. To serve, pour 6 ounces rum mixture into a shaker filled with ice. Shake well, and strain into a glass. Garnish with a lime slice. Repeat procedure with remaining rum mixture, ice, and lime slices.

Props to Tiffani and thank you darling for finding the best Super Bowl Cocktail Recipes for us- even if it's not a good game, we'll certainly be in good moods!
